We are a family owned British PhilCo.
We are proud to be part of the Reed Group, which was founded by Sir Alec Reed in 1960. For over 65 years, Reed has been making a significant contribution to our country and its economy.
Our company
We were launched in a single office in Hackney in April 1998 as one of the first employability support providers in the UK.
Our aim was to use the Reed Group's recruitment heritage to improve the social and economic circumstances of long-term unemployed young people in the area.
From there we expanded to deliver employability services across the UK.
Over time, we felt there was more we could do with our expertise and resources to contribute to our mission, so we have evolved to deliver a wider range of important, transformative public services for different commissioners.

The power of giving
We are proud to be a PhilCo – a company that at is least 10% owned by a charitable foundation. The PhilCo model seeks to reshape traditional capitalism by encouraging more businesses to put philanthropy at the heart of their culture, identity and structure.
We are 18% owned by the Reed Foundation, meaning our people effectively work one day a week for charity. This ownership model has seen million pounds of our dividends given directly to good causes - delivering a meaningful, lasting impact far beyond our commercial activities.
The Reed Foundation is sponsor of the Big Give, which was founded by Sir Alec Reed in 2007 and is the UK’s biggest match funding platform. The vision behind it is to provide a search engine for charities and secure a way for individuals to give back easily online. The Big Give has raised £450 million of pounds for more than 22,000 different charity projects since 2008.

Caring for our planet
We recognise the importance of protecting our natural environment. This is why we have reduced our carbon emissions, donated millions to environmental causes and committed to becoming climate positive.
The Reed Group has a Sustainability Committee that is responsible for delivery of our environmental pledges and commitments:
- 30% scope one (direct) and two (indirect) emissions reduction by 2030
- 50% scope three (value chain) emissions reduction by 2030
- Climate positive by 2050
The Reed Foundation’s Green Match Fund and sponsorship of Earth Raise, the UK’s largest environmental fundraiser, takes our action further.
We also launched Reed Environment to help develop the green skills workforce that will drive the UK towards its net zero target and by delivering services to help councils, companies and homeowners improve their energy efficiency.
