Meet Jack

Aged 20, Jack had been searching for the right job opportunity for nearly a year. But with limited work experience, he was struggling to find a role that matched his interests, skills and long-term career goals. He was referred to the Restart Scheme, which Reed in Partnership delivers on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, by his Jobcentre Plus Work Coach.

Our support

Over 15 weeks, Jack received personalised employability support from his Employment Adviser, Jamie. As well as consistent guidance and motivation, Jamie provided access to valuable contacts and in-house training, which is delivered on-site to Restart Scheme participants.

One course that was particularly beneficial to Jack was our interview skills course, which is designed to reduce interview nerves and equip participants with practical tools and techniques to approach interviews with confidence.

Jamie said:

From our first appointment, Jack admitted to feeling nervous, and it quickly became clear that he felt he was in a safe, supportive space where his personal and professional growth genuinely mattered. Throughout the programme, Jack felt comfortable raising questions, discussing concerns, and exploring different education and administrative career pathways.

Having chosen to pursue administrative roles, Jamie helped to prepare Jack for upcoming interviews with mock interviews, interview clothing and travel reimbursement.

Moving forward

This support helped Jack to achieve his goal - he secured a full-time role as an Administrator. He said:
